Problem Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2026 bZ Woodland vehicles equipped with a tow converter. An electrical short circuit may occur within the tow converter printed circuit board, which can deactivate the electronic stability control system and cause the brake lights to remain illuminated. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards numbers 126, "Electronic Stability Control Systems for Light Vehicles and 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Risk Driving with a disabled electronic stability control system or continuously illuminated brake lights can increase the risk of a crash. Fix Dealers will replace the tow converter, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 21, 2026. Owners may contact Toyota's customer service at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's numbers for this recall are 26TB15 and 26TA15.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 26TB15 / 26TA15 is the number Toyota assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 26V512000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
