Problem Tesla, Inc. (Tesla) is recalling certain 2023 Semi trucks. The electronic parking brake valve module (PVM) may fail to move into the park position when the parking brake is activated. Risk A parking brake that is not engaged as expected when the driver releases the brakes may allow the vehicle to rollaway, increasing the risk of crash. Fix Tesla service will replace the PVM, free of charge. All affected vehicles were repaired by April 10, 2023. Owners may contact Tesla customer service at 1-877-798-3752. Tesla's number for this recall is SB-23-33-001.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. SB-23-33-001 is the number Tesla assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 23V205000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
