Problem Chrysler (FCA US, LLC) is recalling certain 2026 Ram 1500 vehicles. A connector for the driver and front passenger side air bags may not be secured properly, which can cause the air bags not to deploy as intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 208, "Occupant Crash Protection" and 214, "Side Impact Protection." Risk A side air bag that does not deploy as intended increases the risk of injury in a crash. Fix Dealers will inspect and repair the sensor connections, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 27, 2026. Owners may contact Chrysler customer service at 800-853-1403. Chrysler's number for this recall is 94D. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall became searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 6, 2026.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 94D is the number Ram assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 26V622000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR Part 573

Is 94D the same recall as 26V622000?

Yes. 94D is Ram’s own number for it; 26V622000 is NHTSA’s. One recall, two references.

Which vehicles does 94D cover?

2026 Ram 1500, 5 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.

Does the 94D repair cost anything?

No. The manufacturer must remedy a safety defect at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from first sale.
