Problem Nova Bus (Nova) is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 Nova LFS Artic transit buses manufactured from September 1, 2010, through April 30, 2015, and equipped with Allison transmissions. The main power cable within the energy guiding system (EGS) may have been incorrectly routed and, as a result, the cable may disconnect. Risk If the main power cable disconnects, there will be a loss of power that could disable the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Nova will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the main power cable, re-routing it as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on April 11, 2016. Owners may contact Nova customer service at 1-450-472-6410. Nova's recall number for this campaign is CR3590.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. CR3590 is the number Nova BUS assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 16V068000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR Part 573

Is CR3590 the same recall as 16V068000?

Yes. CR3590 is Nova BUS’s own number for it; 16V068000 is NHTSA’s. One recall, two references.

Which vehicles does CR3590 cover?

2010–2015 Nova BUS LFS Artic, 229 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.

Does the CR3590 repair cost anything?

No. The manufacturer must remedy a safety defect at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from first sale.
