Problem Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2020 Range Rover Evoque vehicles equipped with climate specification front seats trimmed with "Dinamica" cloth. In the event of a fire, the seat material may burn quicker than allowed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 302, "Flammability of Interior Materials." Risk A seat cover that burns too quickly can increase the risk of injury in the event of a fire. Fix Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front seat covers, free of charge. The recall began February 26, 2021. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N524.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. N524 is the number Land Rover assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 20V794000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Is N524 the same recall as 20V794000?

Which vehicles does N524 cover?

2020 Land Rover Range Rover, 66 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.
