Problem Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Land Rover) is recalling certain 2020 Range Rover Evoque vehicles. The adhesive bond attaching a metal plate to the headliner can fail after exposure to very cold temperatures. Risk In the event of a crash necessitating the deployment of side curtain air bags, the metal plate could detach from the headliner and strike vehicle occupants, increasing the risk of injury. Fix Land Rover will notify owners, and dealers will apply self-adhesive fleece tape to the metal plate and the driver and passenger sides of the headliner, free of charge. The recall began January 17, 2020. Owners may contact Land Rover customer service at 1-800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N412.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. N412 is the number Land Rover assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 19V840000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
