Get in touch with WhichTrim

A question about a vehicle or a record, a correction to the data, a business inquiry or a problem with your account: send it here and it comes straight to us. Corrections are read first.

We use your email address only to reply. How messages are handled.

Before you write

About your own car?

WhichTrim is independent: we are not the manufacturer and not NHTSA, so we cannot repair a vehicle, issue a fix or change a manufacturer’s bulletin. Report the problem to NHTSA at nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem, check your VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, and tell your dealer. We read every message, and we will point you to what is on file for your car.

Is there a recall on my car?

Only a VIN lookup can settle that for one vehicle: nhtsa.gov/recalls or the manufacturer’s own recall site. The list of VINs inside a campaign is held by the manufacturer, so we cannot see it either. How to check.

A correction

Include the page address and what the source says. If we misread a record, we fix it in the next nightly build; if the federal record itself is wrong, we note it on the page rather than overwrite it.

Your account or the API

Write from the address you sign in with. Never send an API key, a password or card details — we will never ask for them.

Advertising

One flat-fee, labelled slot per state for law firms, and no lead forms: the terms. Choose “Advertising or partnerships” above to ask about a state.

A safety problem with your vehicle

Report it to NHTSA as well, at nhtsa.gov/report-a-safety-problem. Owner reports are the evidence NHTSA’s defect investigations are built on, and we cannot file one for you.
