What the bulletin says
Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communicationDP: The Data Communication Module (DCM) in the subject vehicles are equipped with software to identify the location of the vehicle using the Global Positioning System (GPS) to support features of the Safety Connect system. Due to incorrect programming in the DCM software, after November 2nd, 2019, the GPS coordinates for this system will be calculated incorrectly. This will cause the system to use incorrect vehicle coordinates if one of the system?s features is activated.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

I purchased a new 2016 Prius four on february 16, 2016. The literature on the Toyota factory website says my Prius is equipped to switch from english to metric units. Unfortunately, Toyota failed to disclose that any Prius manufactured in january and february and delivered to the united states did not have this feature working correctly.

Toyota entune (iphone app) will not pair with your phone or disconnects during use because app does not maintain the user's login credentials. Purchased vehicle brand new with 18 miles on it. I get it serviced like clockwork and have never missed a maintenance appointment. A little over a week ago, the electrical locking system on the drivers side door stopped functioning. Toyota is telling me that there are no recalls and it will cost me almost $1000.00 to repair.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions
Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5Is Toyota K0P_TISdownload_ a recall?
No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.
Is the K0P_TISdownload_ repair free?
Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every Toyota warranty extension on file lists the ones Toyota has filed.
Which vehicles does K0P_TISdownload_ cover?
The manufacturer filed it against 10 model years: 2019 Toyota 4Runner, 2018 Toyota 4Runner, 2017 Toyota 4Runner, 2016 Toyota 4Runner, 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser, 2016 Toyota Land Cruiser and more. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
