Ram bulletin S2519000012

What it saysDiagnostic Trouble Codes C2217 And Or C1592. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Ram filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Nov 20, 2025, received Nov 26, 2025, about the steering. It names 3 model years (2023–2025). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 3 model years this bulletin names have filed 113 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 72 of them name Steering, Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

On 10/24, a rented van (from Budget Truck Rental) was parked and stationary on private commercial property (a warehouse lot) when a fire originated in the engine compartment area. The fire rapidly escalated, causing severe damage to the van itself, and resulting in the total loss of a second, adjacent rented van.

2023 Ram ProMaster · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Nov 4, 2025

Without any warning my steering wheel locked up and started jerking resulting in lack of steering and drivability. I was backing out of my driveway and started to turn onto the street when this happened. This could have been very dangerous if I had been driving on regular roads.

2023 Ram ProMaster · Steering · filed with NHTSA Jan 9, 2026

The vehicle experienced a thermal event that was caused by a defective fan motor. The vehicle has been inspected by stellantis and a third party investigator. Report attached

2024 Ram ProMaster · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Jun 2, 2026

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Ram S2519000012 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the S2519000012 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does S2519000012 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 3 model years: 2025 Ram ProMaster, 2024 Ram ProMaster, 2023 Ram ProMaster. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
