Ram bulletin S2519000007

What it saysService Electric Power Steering Message, C1592-01, C2217-49, C2129-16 Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Ram filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Aug 22, 2025, received Aug 27, 2025, about the steering. It names 4 model years (2022–2025). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 4 model years this bulletin names have filed 177 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 105 of them name Steering, Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

The chassis battery keeps dying after a few days. There was a recall for awning to correct issue because it would open on its own. We did recall now there is another one for seatbelt. But no one is addressing the battery that keeps draining. We replaced battery already once. Dodge said it will go dead after a week no matter what.

2022 Ram ProMaster · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Feb 29, 2024

On 10/24, a rented van (from Budget Truck Rental) was parked and stationary on private commercial property (a warehouse lot) when a fire originated in the engine compartment area. The fire rapidly escalated, causing severe damage to the van itself, and resulting in the total loss of a second, adjacent rented van.

2023 Ram ProMaster · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Nov 4, 2025

Without any warning my steering wheel locked up and started jerking resulting in lack of steering and drivability. I was backing out of my driveway and started to turn onto the street when this happened. This could have been very dangerous if I had been driving on regular roads.

2023 Ram ProMaster · Steering · filed with NHTSA Jan 9, 2026

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Ram S2519000007 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the S2519000007 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does S2519000007 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 4 model years: 2025 Ram ProMaster, 2024 Ram ProMaster, 2023 Ram ProMaster, 2022 Ram ProMaster. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
