Mercedes-Benz service campaign NCU-2025040008

Mercedes-Benz filed this with NHTSA as a service campaign dated May 2, 2025, received May 9, 2025, about the electrical system. It names 15 model years (2016–2025). A service campaign is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.

What the bulletin says

Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communication

Mercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain subject vehicles, the SCN coding in the Belt-driven Starter Alternator (BSA) control unit does not correspond to the latest production specifications. MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will perform an SCN coding in the BSA control unit.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5; the full text comes from the manufacturer or a dealer. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. Quote it at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.
