Mercedes-Benz bulletin LI54.71-P-080349

Mercedes-Benz filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Aug 26, 2026, received Mar 28, 2026, about the electrical system — 4 documents under this number. It names 6 model years (2024–2026). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

Complaint Frequent rear view camera flap actuations and/or noise associated. NOTE: Rear view camera functions are NOT affected and still perform in accordance with regulatory requirements. Cause Calibration of the reversing camera is in progress. This is not a malfunction, but an intended system behavior. Remedy An optimization has been implemented to reduce the quantity of rearview camera flap actuations for calibration. Open an XSS case requesting addition of the option code "0O1" (Zero, "O", "1"). Once the option code has been added, perform the below based on which option codes the vehicle has. FOR VEHICLES WITH 235 ONLY: 1) Update and SCN code N62/* (PARK Control Unit) 2) Perform verification that optimization is as‑expected as seen below. FOR VEHICLES WITH 235 + 501: 1) Update and SCN code A26/17 (Head Unit) 2) Update and SCN code N62/* (PARK Control Unit) 3) Perform verification that optimization is as‑expected as seen below. IMPORTANT NOTE for vehicles with 235 + 501 ONLY: *For vehicles with 235 only, the "Movable 3D View" is not available due to not having 360 camera feature. Therefore the view was never present.* After both control units have been SCN coded, the "Movable 3D View" feature in the head unit will no longer be available. With this change there will be two distinct differences: 1) The "3D" icon when in the top down vehicle view, will no longer be present on the head unit. 2) The digital rendering of the vehicle with the ability to spatially move around the vehicle is no longer possible. This view is replaced with 2D static images of the left and right sides. View PRIOR to SCN Coding: View AFTER SCN Coding: Prior to releasing the vehicle, please verify the following: • Rear camera flap when calibrating after a key cycle bus sleep will stay open to 29 MPH and then close. Will re‑open, when calibrating, at 9 MPH. • The head unit screens mentioned above appear the same as "View AFTER SCN Coding" as shown in the attachment.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5; the full text comes from the manufacturer or a dealer. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. Quote it at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Mercedes-Benz LI54.71-P-080349 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the LI54.71-P-080349 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way.

Which vehicles does LI54.71-P-080349 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 6 model years: 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class, 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class, 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class.
