Mercedes-Benz service campaign NCU - 2024070002
Mercedes-Benz filed this with NHTSA as a service campaign dated Aug 24, 2024, received Aug 29, 2024, about the electrical system. It names 3 model years (2022–2023). A service campaign is not a safety recall — there is no NHTSA campaign number and no federal requirement — but it is usually work the manufacturer pays for on the vehicles it names; the dealer checks the VIN against the manufacturer’s list.
What the bulletin says
Source: NHTSA's summary of the manufacturer's communicationMercedes-Benz AG, the manufacturer of Mercedes-Benz vehicles, has determined that on certain MY 2022-2023 AMG SL (232 platform) vehicles, the routing of the 12V battery ground cable may not correspond to current production specifications. In this case, it is possible the ground connection may loosen over time. Should the ground connection loosen, the possibility exists that the convertible soft top may become inoperable, or a "12V battery, voltage too low" message may appear in the instrument cluster. MBUSA will conduct a service campaign. An authorized Mercedes-Benz dealer will check the routing of the 12V battery ground cable and rework it if necessary.
