TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: VOLUNTARY SERVICE CAMPAIGN: IEB INSPECTION AND WATER PROOFING OR IEB REPLACEMENT (SC321) - This bulletin has been revised to include additional information. New/revised sections of this bulletin are indicated by a black bar in the margin area. This bulletin provides the procedure to inspect the Integrated Electronic Booster (IEB) on certain 2019-2022MY Niro EV (DE EV) vehicles produced from December 5, 2018 through April 12, 2022, that were originally sold or are currently registered in one of the 28 states where heavy amounts of road salt are used. Over time, saltwater inflow into the Integrated IEB at the IEB fastening bolt hole may cause corrosion and lead to an inoperable IEB motor. Should this occur, the vehicle may experience illumination of the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) warning lights, and/or a firmer brake pedal feel. The brakes remain operational. Kia is conducting this service campaign to improve corrosion resistance of the IEB assembly.

When I’m braking at slow speeds, 10mph or less the front left tire braking system locks and makes the car skid. This happens randomly. There’s also a clicking sound made from the regen braking to switching to regular braking. The mechanic replaced the hca assembly and wiring kit from a recall but the car is still having the same issues.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? -I have received a "Check Brake Light" warning several times now, even after replacing the bulbs. I have replaced them twice now in the past 6 months and the issue persists. I believe it to be a faulty sensor or something similar.

While driving, we received a notice on the dashboard to "stop driving and check regenerative brakes". Simultaneously we lose 95% of our braking power and all of the acceleration. Slamming on the brakes all the way to the floor provided some minor braking ability, but it was significantly diminished and frankly terrifying.
