Jeep bulletin 9100401

What it says3.5" speaker assembly Before replacing a speaker part for crackles or rattling noises make sure to take the following steps: 1. NHTSA’s full summary ↓

Jeep filed this with NHTSA as a service bulletin dated Aug 12, 2024, received Aug 14, 2024, about the electrical system. It names 4 model years (2023–2024). A service bulletin is not a safety recall: it is the manufacturer telling its dealers how to diagnose or repair a condition, and whether the work is paid for depends on the warranty in force. Quoting the number at a service desk can save a diagnosis.

What the bulletin says

3.5" speaker assembly Before replacing a speaker part for crackles or rattling noises make sure to take the following steps: 1. Check for electrical harness routing too close to speaker's rear moving parts, improper connection, and/or harness pinch or damage. 2. Ensure no loose components, including trim grilles, fasteners, surrounding IP parts, etc. were found when removing the speaker. 3. Try "bad" speaker at another IP location and see if noise follows speaker. Try a different "good" speaker at "bad speaker location" and see if noise still happens at "bad" location. If even with this verification and adjustments the speaker sounds bad, test the individual speaker with the audio files provided in the Service Library Homepage under "Reference Materials" prior to replacement.

The summary is NHTSA’s abstract of the document, as filed under 49 CFR 579.5. One communication is usually filed as several documents — the bulletin, a dealer notice, an owner letter — and the number on any of them finds this page. A PDF link is shown only once NHTSA’s own server has been seen to serve that document; the rest are checked over the following nights. Quote the number at a service desk; it is what the dealer’s system is keyed on.

What owners reported

Source: NHTSA complaint database

Owners of the 4 model years this bulletin names have filed 300 complaints with NHTSA since 2015. 146 of them name Electrical System — the same broad component group this bulletin is filed under. NHTSA groups complaints coarsely, so that means the same area of the vehicle, not necessarily the same fault.

While driving the Wagoneer it shut down in the middle of road while at a stop light, and did a “hard” reset where all the systems had to boot back up before being able to start the Jeep. I reached out to local Jeep and to Service, and was told to bring it down so that they could run a scan.

2024 Jeep Wagoneer · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Nov 1, 2026 · ODI 11774976

I bought this vehicle used form Carmax, <12000 miles. Drove about 12 miles, when while parking I noticed the car stopped and asked to start engine and engage gear again. Didn't think much of it. Then started driving again and the check engine light turned on.

2023 Jeep Wagoneer · Electrical System · filed with NHTSA Oct 12, 2024 · ODI 11619503

While driving my 2023 Grand Wagoneer the Serv 4WD light and dash spelled out Service four wheel drive, it lit up the anti collision light, ECS, TCS, and HOLD!. The parking brake also engaged automatically while driving at least 4 times.

A complaint is one owner’s account, not a defect finding, and a bulletin is not a recall. Nothing here says this bulletin was issued because of these complaints, or that the repair it describes fixed them. Complaint files on this site begin in 2015.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR 579.5

Is Jeep 9100401 a recall?

No. A service bulletin is a manufacturer communication filed with NHTSA under 49 CFR 579.5; a safety recall carries an NHTSA campaign number (two digits, a letter, six digits) and a federal duty to repair for free. Check the vehicle’s recalls by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls, or on its page here.

Is the 9100401 repair free?

Not automatically. A service bulletin describes how to diagnose or repair a condition; who pays depends on the warranty in force, any extension, and the dealer. Quoting the number can save a diagnosis either way. Every Stellantis warranty extension on file lists the ones Stellantis has filed.

Which vehicles does 9100401 cover?

The manufacturer filed it against 4 model years: 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, 2024 Jeep Wagoneer, 2023 Jeep Wagoneer. Whether one particular vehicle is affected is a matter of its VIN and its build, not its model year alone.
