Recall Watch

You already check for recalls.
Can you prove it?

Nightly NHTSA recall monitoring for a list of VINs, with a dated record of every check. Built for used-car lots and fleets holding vehicles long enough for a recall to land while they sit.

The problem this solves

A clean car does not stay clean

NHTSA files campaigns every day against model years already sitting on lots. The car you checked at trade-in is not the car you are selling sixty days later.

Your OEM portal only covers your brand

Every trade-in of another make is invisible to it. On an independent lot, that is the entire inventory.

Checking is not the hard part

Anyone can look up a VIN. Showing, next year, that you looked this year is the part nobody can do — and the part the FTC now asks about.

What we can and cannot tell you

Read this before you buy

We watch. You verify.

NHTSA's public record is campaign-level. We tell you, every night, which vehicles in your list sit on a model year with an open campaign — with severity, park-outside and do-not-drive flags — and we link each one to NHTSA's own VIN checker, which is the only place that knows whether that specific vehicle is affected and whether the repair is done.

That is deliberately a narrower claim than the competition makes, and it is one we can keep. Over-reporting is the safe direction for a triage tool; telling you a car is clear when it is not would be the one failure that could actually hurt somebody.

Questions

Source: EPA, NHTSA and manufacturer press kits

How is this different from your free VIN check?

The free tool answers “what is on my lot today”, once, in your browser. This watches the same list every night and tells you the morning a new campaign lands on a vehicle you are still holding — and keeps a dated record of every change, which is the part you cannot reproduce after the fact.

Does this tell me if a specific VIN is affected?

No, and neither does anything else at this price. NHTSA's public data is campaign-level: a campaign names a make, model and model year plus a build window. Only NHTSA's own VIN lookup and the manufacturer know whether one specific vehicle is inside that window and whether its repair has been done. So we do the watching and hand you the vehicles worth checking, each linked straight to NHTSA's checker. Any product claiming per-VIN certainty from public data is decoding the VIN to year, make and model and looking up campaigns — which is what we do, described as more.

Why does the record matter?

In March 2026 the FTC warned dealers publicly that advertising a used car as having passed a rigorous safety inspection, or calling it certified or safe, without checking for open recalls is a deceptive practice. Selling a car with an open recall is still legal; claiming you inspected it when you did not check is not. The export is the document that shows what you checked and when.

What happens when nothing changes?

Nothing. We do not send a daily all-clear, because an email nobody reads is how the one that matters gets ignored. The check still happens and is still recorded — every vehicle carries the date it was last looked at.

Can I put my whole inventory in?

Paste it, one VIN per line, or paste two columns as VIN and stock number and we will keep your numbering. Up to 2,000 rows at a time. Sold a car? Remove it and it stops being counted.

What if I stop paying?

Your list stays. Vehicles above the free limit stop being checked rather than being deleted, oldest kept first, and the exports of everything recorded so far stay available.
