Problem Zero Motorcycles Inc. (Zero) is recalling certain 2017 S, DS, and FXS motorcycles. The Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) may have the wrong vehicle model information, possibly causing the ABS to function improperly. Risk If the ABS does not function properly in a braking event, there is an increased risk of a crash. Fix Zero will notify owners and dealers will reconfigure the HCU, or replace it as needed, free of charge. The recall began on March 13, 2017. Owners may contact Zero customer service at 1-888-841-8085. Zero's number for the recall is SV-ZMC-017-363.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. SV-ZMC-017-363 is the number Zero assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 17V145000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
