Problem Volvo Trucks North America (Volvo Trucks) is recalling certain 2025-2027 VNL (4) and 2026-2027 VNR (4) vehicles equipped with a tanker application package. Inaccurate axle load calculations may cause reduced braking performance while transporting smoothbore tanker trailers. Risk Reduced braking performance can require a greater distance to stop, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Dealers will install new software to disable the dynamic trailer braking calculations, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed November 27, 2026. Owners may contact Volvo Trucks' customer service at 800-528-6586. Volvo Trucks' number for this recall is RVXX2610. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov on October 5, 2026.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. RVXX2610 is the number Volvo assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 26V619000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Is RVXX2610 the same recall as 26V619000?

Yes. RVXX2610 is Volvo’s own number for it; 26V619000 is NHTSA’s. One recall, two references.

Which vehicles does RVXX2610 cover?

2025–2027 Volvo VNL (4) and 1 other Volvo model, 392 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.

Does the RVXX2610 repair cost anything?

No. The manufacturer must remedy a safety defect at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from first sale.
