Problem Piaggio Group Americas. Inc. (Piaggio) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Vespa GTS 300 and GTV 300 scooters. Improperly galvanized brake pipe terminals can result in excessive front and/or rear brake levers travel during braking. Risk Reduced braking efficiency can lengthen the distance needed to stop the scooter, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Piaggio will notify owners, and dealers will test the O-Ring, replace the brake fluid and bleed the brake system, or replace the brake pipes based on the vehicle's age, free of charge. The recall began October 21, 2020. Owners may contact Piaggio customer service at 1-212-380-4433. Piaggio's number for this recall is PP2ZZQ2003_GTS/GTV.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. PP2ZZQ2003_GTS/GTV is the number Vespa assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 20V617000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
