Problem Vermeer Manufacturing Company (Vermeer) is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 TG5000 vehicles manufactured November 23, 2013, to May 23, 2016. The assembly instruction manual for these vehicles called for the wrong slack adjuster pushrod length to be used, and as a result, the pushrod threads may fail, causing the trailer parking brakes to unintentionally engage. Risk If the trailer brakes unintentionally engage it would increase the risk of a crash. Fix Vermeer will notify owners, and dealers will reset the air brake pushrod length to the correct dimension, free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2016. Owners may contact Vermeer customer service at 1-641-628-3141. Vermeer's number for this recall is IK3334.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. IK3334 is the number Vermeer assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 16V427000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions
