Problem Vac-Tron Equipment, LLC. (Vac-Tron) is recalling certain 2015-2019 LP873SDT Heavy, Vacuum Excavator-dual axle trailers. The trailer may lack front and rear lights, including clearance lamps, reflex reflectors, and side reflex reflectors. The trailers may also may have an insufficient amount of reflective tape on the sides and rear. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Risk Due to the lack of lamps and insufficient reflective tape, the trailer may not be visible at night, increasing the risk of crash. Fix Vac-Tron will notify owners and dealers will move the marker lights to the compliant position, and install lower chassis extension, conspicuity tape, and reflectors, free of charge. The recall began August 1, 2019. Owners may contact Vac-Tron customer service at 1-888-822-8766.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. VVK0001 is the number VAC-Tron assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 19V442000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
