Problem Triple E Recreational Vehicles (Triple E) is recalling certain 2020 Unity travel trailers, model U24RL. The utility compartment's inner latch mechanism may rotate due to vehicle motion, becoming locked. Risk A locked utility compartment prevents access to the liquid propane (LP) shutoff valve. In the event of a propane leak at the regulator, this may increase the risk of a fire in the presence of an ignition source. Fix Triple E will notify owners, and dealers will repair the utility compartment latch mechanism, free of charge. This recall began June 2, 2020. Owners may contact Triple E customer service at 1-877-992-9906. Triple E's number for this recall is CA#9681-1.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. CA#9681-1 is the number Triple E assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 20V299000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
