Problem Trail King Industries, Inc. (Trail King) is recalling certain 2019-2021 TKHDG, TKAMG, TKAHG, TKHG, TKMG, TKMB, and TKLPSD trailers equipped with disc brakes and a yoke-type suspension. Sealant may be missing on the disc brake chamber extension tube on the front axle, possibly allowing water intrusion which can cause corrosion or freezing of the brake caliper mechanism. Risk If the disc brake's caliper mechanism corrodes or freezes, it can reduce front braking effectiveness, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Trail King began notifying owners, and dealers will inspect the front axle brake system, and seal the disc brake extension tube on the front axle, as necessary, free of charge. If water has intruded into the caliper mechanism and caused corrosion, the caliper will be replaced, free of charge. The recall began February 17, 2021. Owners may contact Trail King customer service at 1-800-843-3324. Trail King's number for this recall is TK202101.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. TK202101 is the number Trail King assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 21V066000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
