Problem Terex Advance (Terex) is recalling certain model year 2016 Front Discharge Concrete Mixer trucks manufactured January 14, 2016, to May 31, 2016. The weld on the outer chute race may fail causing the main chute to detach and fall off while the vehicle is in motion. Risk If the main chute detaches while the vehicle is being driven there would be an increased risk of a crash. Fix Terex has notified the affected owners, and dealers will replace the main chute race assembly, free of charge. The recall began on June 13, 2016. Owners may contact Terex customer service at 1-800-678-5961. Terex's number for this recall is Construction_000278.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. Construction_000278 is the number Terex Advance assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 16V413000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
