Problem Tadano America Corporation (Tadano) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 ATF70G-4, ATF100G-4, ATF130G-5, ATF180G-5, ATF220G-5, and ATF400G-6 all-terrain crane trucks manufactured April 1, 2014, to October 9, 2015. The affected vehicles may have an improperly assembled air line connection which may result in a sudden loss of mobility or reduced braking. Risk A loss of air supply resulting in a loss of mobility and reduced braking power can increase the risk of a crash. Fix Tadano has notified owners, and dealers will test all of the air connections, repairing the connections as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on August 30, 2016. Owners may contact Tadano customer service at 1-281-869-0030. Tadano's number for this recall is 21602480.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 21602480 is the number Tadano assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 16V592000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
