Problem Spartan Fire, LLC (Spartan) is recalling one 2024 Metrostar emergency vehicle. A node may become unresponsive and cause a loss of functionality of connected components, such as exterior lighting and pump-mode. Risk A loss of exterior lights can reduce the visibility of the vehicle to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash. A loss of pump-mode function may prevent or delay the use of emergency equipment, increasing the risk of injury. Fix Spartan Fire will work with Fire Research Corporation to replace the I/O Nodes, free of charge. The owner notification letter is expected to be mailed November 1, 2026. Owners may contact Spartan customer service at 1-517-543-6400. Spartan's number for this recall is 26017.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 26017 is the number Spartan Fire assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 26V654000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
