Problem Shyft Group is recalling certain 2021-2023 Spartan K2 RV Chassis. The air brake supply reservoir is less than 12x the combined volume of air for all service brake chambers. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 121, "Air Brake Systems." Risk The undersized air brake supply reservoir may provide an insufficient air supply to properly operate the brakes during repetitive braking, reducing braking performance and increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Shyft Group will replace the air supply reservoir, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 23, 2022. Owners may contact Shyft Group customer service at 1-800-582-3454. Shyft Group's number for this recall is 22-14.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 22-14 is the number Spartan assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 22V785000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
