Problem Rosenbauer America (Rosenbauer) is recalling certain 2014-2019 Emergency Response Commander vehicles equipped with Reyco front suspensions. The front shocks may separate from their upper mount on the front suspension. The loose shock may contact and damage the steering gear housing, possibly causing a steering fluid leak and a loss of power steering assist. Risk A loss of hydraulic steering assist can increase the risk of a crash. Fix Rosenbauer will notify owners, and Reyco dealers will install a new bolt, nut, hardened washer, and shim, free of charge. The recall began February 6, 2020. Owners may contact Reyco customer service at 1-765-543-5815 or Rosenbauer customer service at 1-877-543-5591.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 19E-045 is the number Rosenbauer assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 20V040000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
