Problem Pierce Manufacturing (Pierce) is recalling certain 2017-2021 Arrow XT, Enforcer, Impel, Quantum, Saber, and Velocity vehicles. The sealing washer may not seat correctly in the pilot bore holes, allowing the high pressure fuel rail assembly to leak. Risk A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire. Fix Dealers will inspect the rail threads and fuel lines, and replace the rail as necessary, free of charge. Interim notification letters were mailed to owners on June 24, 2021. Owner notification letters were mailed July 30, 2021. Owners may contact Pierce customer service at 1-888-974-3723.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 74BX317 is the number Pierce assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 21V394000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
