Problem Nova Bus (US) Inc. (Nova) is recalling certain 2010-2020 LFS Artic and 2012-2024 LFS vehicles. The driver's seat belt may not retract properly. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 209, "Seat Belt Assemblies." Risk A seat belt that does not retract properly may result in a loose seat belt, which can increase the risk of injury in a crash. Fix Nova Bus will install additional seat stoppers to the driver's rear partition, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed July 4, 2025. Nova's number for this recall is CR5635. This recall expands and replaces previous recall number 23V-350. Vehicles that were previously recalled under 23V-350 will need to have the new remedy completed.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. CR5635 is the number Nova BUS assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 24V647000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR Part 573

Is CR5635 the same recall as 24V647000?

Yes. CR5635 is Nova BUS’s own number for it; 24V647000 is NHTSA’s. One recall, two references.

Which vehicles does CR5635 cover?

2010–2024 Nova BUS LFS and 1 other Nova BUS model, 1,570 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.

Does the CR5635 repair cost anything?

No. The manufacturer must remedy a safety defect at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from first sale.
