Problem McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2008-2018 Bridgemaster V concrete mixers equipped with an optional composite material hydraulic tank. The filler neck check valve may seal the tank too tightly, causing the tank to overpressurize and possibly rupture. Risk If the tank ruptures it may cause hydraulic fluid to spill. The ruptured tank can cause injuries from plastic debris. The spilled hydraulic fluid could be hot which could cause burn injuries. If the vehicle is on the road when the tank ruptures, the tank pieces or spilled hydraulic fluid may cause a road hazard which could increase the risk of a crash. Fix McNeilus has notified owners, and dealers will replace the filler neck, free of charge. The recall began on June 4, 2018. Owners may contact McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278. McNeilus' number for the recall is VSR-TSB-018.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. VSR-TSB-018 is the number Mcneilus assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 18V322000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
