Problem Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2024 Mazda 3, CX-30, and 2025 CX-50 vehicles. A malfunction in the forward sensing camera (FSC) may prevent the automatic emergency braking system and the lane-keep assist system from functioning. In addition, the headlights will not automatically adjust from high beams to low beams as intended. Risk Automatic braking, steering assist, and headlight control systems that do not function as intended can increase the risk of a crash. Fix Dealers will inspect and replace the forward sensing camera as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 24, 2024. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500, Option 6. Mazda's number for this recall is 6824H.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 6824H is the number Mazda assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 24V649000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Is 6824H the same recall as 24V649000?

Yes. 6824H is Mazda’s own number for it; 24V649000 is NHTSA’s. One recall, two references.

Which vehicles does 6824H cover?

2024–2025 Mazda CX-30 and 2 other Mazda models, 672 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.

Does the 6824H repair cost anything?

No. The manufacturer must remedy a safety defect at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from first sale.
