Problem Mack Trucks, Inc. (Mack) is recalling certain 2022-2027 TerraPro trucks. The engine control unit (ECU) software may allow the engine to start when the transmission is not in Neutral. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 102, "Transmission Shift Lever Sequence, Starter Interlock, and Transmission Braking Effect." Risk Starting the vehicle while in gear may cause unexpected vehicle movement, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Fix Dealers will update the ECU software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 14, 2026. Owners may contact Mack's customer service at 1-800-866-1177. Mack's number for this recall is SC0492. Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. SC0492 is the number Mack assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 26V139000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Is SC0492 the same recall as 26V139000?

Yes. SC0492 is Mack’s own number for it; 26V139000 is NHTSA’s. One recall, two references.

Which vehicles does SC0492 cover?

2022–2027 Mack Terrapro (te), 775 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.
