Problem Liberty Outdoors, LLC (Liberty) is recalling certain 2018 Little Guy Max recreational trailers, equipped with a Smart-Jack model power tongue jack. The laminated plastic touch pad on the jack may crack or separate allowing water to enter, potentially causing the jack to operate unintentionally. Risk If the jack retracts or extends unintentionally, it can increase the risk of injury to those within the trailer or increase the risk of a crash if the jack moves while the trailer is being towed. Fix Liberty will notify owners, and dealers will replace the power tongue jack, free of charge. The recall began on February 27, 2018. Owners may contact Liberty customer service at 1-877-545-4897. Liberty's number for this recall is LOR-001.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. LOR-001 is the number Liberty assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 18V059000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
