Problem PACCAR Incorporated (PACCAR) is recalling certain 2022-2023 Kenworth T680 tractor trailers. The mud flap may contact the fuel tank while the vehicle is in motion, creating wear on the fuel tank over time. Risk Excessive wear of the fuel tank may allow fuel to spill on the roadway, which can increase the risk of a crash or injury. Fix Dealers will inspect the fuel tank and install an anti-sail device to prevent the mud flap from contacting the fuel tank, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed February 1, 2023. Owners may contact Kenworth's customer service at 1-425-828-5888. Paccar's number for this recall is 22KWF.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 22KWF is the number Kenworth assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 22V582000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Which vehicles does 22KWF cover?

2022–2023 Kenworth T680, 630 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.
