Problem Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2017 Eagle fifth wheel trailers, model 355 MBQS, manufactured October 7, 2016, to October 11, 2016. The affected vehicles may have an axle of insufficient load capacity. Risk If the axle is overloaded, excess tire wear may result, possibly causing tire failure and an increased risk of a crash. Fix All of the affected trailers have been quarantined at dealers and therefore owner notification letters will not be sent. Jayco dealers will replace the 6000lb capacity axle with a 7000lb capacity axle, including new rims and tires and will install updated Federal ID, and Cargo Carrying Capacity labels, free of charge. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901330.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 9901330 is the number Jayco Travel Trailer assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 16V772000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
