Problem Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2016 Octane travel trailers, model 222(V2), manufactured March 23, 2016, to March 30, 2016. The turn signal wires on the affected trailers may be crossed, activating the opposite turn signal of the one intended. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Assoc. Equipment." Risk Crossed turn signal wires may confuse other drivers by incorrectly indicating the intended direction and thereby increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and repair the wiring, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on April 25, 2016. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901293.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 9901293 is the number Jayco Travel Trailer assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 16V195000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
