Problem Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2016 Eagle Half Ton fifth wheels and Eagle travel trailers manufactured April 8, 2015, to February 19, 2016. In the affected trailers, the positive cable (B+) connecting the battery box to the roof-mounted solar panel preparation package may not be protected by a circuit breaker. Risk Without circuit protection, the wire may short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire. Fix Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will tie the unprotected circuit into a 30amp circuit breaker, free of charge. The recall began on March 18, 2016. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901286.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 9901286 is the number Jayco Fifth Wheel assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 16V120000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
