Problem Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2018 Jayco Alante and 2018-2019 Jayco Precept vehicles. The windshield wiper system motor on these vehicles may fail when being operated in heavy snow or ice situations, thereby reducing driver visibility. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 104, "Windshield Wiping and Washing Systems." Risk Failure of the windshield wiper system can decrease the driver's visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the wiper module with a new relay pack, free of charge. The recall began on June 29, 2018. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-517-9137. Jayco's number for this recall is 9903378.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 9903378 is the number Jayco assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 18V297000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
