Problem Navistar, Inc. (Navistar) is recalling certain 2019-2020 International MV and HV, 2018-2020 Workstar, and 2018-2019 Durastar vehicles equipped with feature codes 12VXT and 12VXU. With the parking brake applied and the automatic transmission in the 'Drive' or 'Reverse' position, when the stationary PTO switch is engaged by the operator, the engine RPM will ramp up and may overcome the parking brake's ability to hold the vehicle. Risk Unintended vehicle movement increases the risk of a crash. Fix Navistar will notify owners, and dealers will update the Engine Control Module to enable the PTO neutral interlock, free of charge. The recall began January 16, 2020. Owners may contact Navistar customer service at 1-800-448-7825. Navistar's number for this recall is 19518.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 19518 is the number International assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 19V841000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Yes. 19518 is International’s own number for it; 19V841000 is NHTSA’s. One recall, two references.

Which vehicles does 19518 cover?
