Problem Iowa Mold Tooling Co., Inc. (IMT) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Dominator Contractor series trucks built on 2017 Ford Super Duty chassis. These vehicles are equipped with a front jump start plug kit installed under the hood at the chassis battery. The fuse block for this kit may contact the hood creating an electrical short. Risk An electrical short can increase the risk of a fire. Fix IMT will notify owners, and dealers will replace the jump start kit mounting bracket, thereby relocating the fuse block, free of charge. The recall began on September 29, 2017. Owners may contact IMT customer service at 1-800-247-5958. IMT's number for this recall is TB2017006.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. TB2017006 is the number IMT assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 17V515000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
