Problem Hyundai Translead is recalling certain 2017 Hyundai Translead Composite trailers, model number 30012130, and HyCube trailers model numbers 30012400, 30012409, 30012410, 30012431, 30012434, 30012481, and 30012595. These trailers are equipped with MPA/MTA suspensions and Meritor EX225 brakes. The brake caliper bolts on these axles may not be properly torqued which can allow the caliper to detach from the mounting flange. Risk If the caliper bolts are improperly torqued and the caliper detaches from the mounting flange, a loss of braking ability would occur, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Hyundai Translead will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the bolts, replacing any loose or missing ones, free of charge. The recall began on January 19, 2018. Owners may contact Hyundai Translead customer service at 1-819-574-1500 or Meritor at 1-866-668-7221. Hyundai Translead's number for this recall is 17E049.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 17E049 is the number Hyundai Translead assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 17V842000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
