Problem KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2022 Husqvarna 350s and Husqvarna 501s motorcycles. The brake pad retaining clips on the front brake caliper may have been mounted incorrectly, which could result in loose or detached front brake pads. Risk Loose or detached front brake pads can reduce braking performance, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Fix Owners are advised to not ride their motorcycles until the repair has been performed. Dealers will replace the front and rear brake pad retaining clips, free of charge. Owners notification letters were mailed February 2, 2022. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090. KTM's number for this recall is HTB2111. This recall supersedes NHTSA recall 21V-678. Motorcycles that were previously repaired under recall 21V-678 will need to have the new remedy performed under this recall.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. HTB2111 is the number Husqvarna assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 22V014000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Source: NHTSA, 49 CFR Part 573

Is HTB2111 the same recall as 22V014000?

Yes. HTB2111 is Husqvarna’s own number for it; 22V014000 is NHTSA’s. One recall, two references.

Which vehicles does HTB2111 cover?

2022 Husqvarna FE 350S and 1 other Husqvarna model, 394 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.

Does the HTB2111 repair cost anything?

No. The manufacturer must remedy a safety defect at no charge for vehicles up to 15 years old from first sale.
