Problem Halcore Group, Inc. (Halcore) is recalling certain 2016-2019 Horton Type I and Type III ambulances equipped with ASA Electronics back-up camera displays. The displays may revert back to the factory default settings which may cause the camera image to be reversed. Risk The driver may inadvertently turn the wrong direction to avoid an object behind the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Horton will notify owners and dealers will add a harness relay capacitor module to prevent the image from reversing, free of charge. The recall began June 13, 2019. Owners may contact ASA customer service at 1-800-384-4400 or Halcore at 1-800-447-0343.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 19E-009 is the number Horton assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 19V281000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions
