Problem Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2018 Glaval Bus Commute transit buses built on a 2018 Ford Transit van chassis. The hazard lights on these vehicles may not illuminate or flash when the ignition is turned off. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment." Risk If the hazard lights do not function when the ignition is off, the stopped vehicle may have reduced visibility, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will wire the hazard warning signal flashers into their programmable relay power centers, free of charge. The recall began on March 2, 2018. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-343-5111. Forest River's number for this recall is 35-0649.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 35-0649 is the number Glaval BUS assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 18V136000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
