Problem Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2025 Freelander motorhomes. The Federal Placard indicates 30 seat-belted positions in the rear, when the correct number of belted positions is 3. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, "Wheels and Rims - Other than Passenger Cars" and 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification." Risk Incorrect seating capacity information may lead to overloading the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Forest River will mail owners new Federal Placards, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed August 8, 2024. Owners may contact customer service at 1-574-825-8602. Forest River's number for this recall is 210-1824.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 210-1824 is the number Forest River assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 24V581000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
