Problem Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2025 Super Duty F-250, F-350, and F-450 vehicles. The steering column shifter may have been improperly welded and detach from the steering column. Risk A detached shifter will prevent the driver from shifting into park, which can result in a vehicle rollaway and increase the risk of a crash. Fix Dealers will inspect the steering column serial numbers and replace the steering column as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 28, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 25S20.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 25S20 is the number Ford assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 25V163000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Is 25S20 the same recall as 25V163000?

Yes. 25S20 is Ford’s own number for it; 25V163000 is NHTSA’s. One recall, two references.

Which vehicles does 25S20 cover?

2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty and 2 other Ford models, 11,621 vehicles by the manufacturer’s count. A recall covers a build range, so the VIN decides whether one particular vehicle is in it.
