Problem Ford Motor Company (Ford) is recalling certain 2018 Ford F-650 and F-750 vehicles equipped with hydraulic brakes. The parking brake cable may not have been adjusted properly, which may result in unexpected vehicle movement. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 105, "Hydraulic and Electric Brake Systems." Risk For vehicles equipped with a transmission that does not have a 'Park' position or a transmission that has a 'Park' position but the transmission lever is not placed in 'Park', an improperly adjusted park brake cable could result in unintended movement of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash or injury. Fix Ford will notify owners, and dealers will correct the parking brake cable adjustment, free of charge. The recall began on May 25, 2018. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332. Ford's number for this recall is 18C05.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 18C05 is the number Ford assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 18V319000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.

Common questions

Which vehicles does 18C05 cover?
