Problem Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2021 East to West Entrada Class C Motorhomes. The federal placard incorrectly states that there are six seats equipped with seat belts when there are actually only four. As such, these motorhomes fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 120, " Tire selection and rims and motor home/recreation vehicle trailer load carrying capacity information for motor vehicles with a GVWR of more than 4,536 kilograms (10,000 pounds)." Risk Vehicle occupants may be unaware of the accurate number of seat belts, resulting in unsecured passengers and increasing the risk of injury in a crash. Fix Forest River will provide a new federal placard, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 25, 2021. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-264-6664. Forest River's number for this recall is 504-1374.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 504-1374 is the number East TO West assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 21V475000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
