Problem Forest River, Inc. (Forest River) is recalling certain 2025-2026 Alta travel trailers. The Federal Placard label may have the incorrect axle capacity listed, causing the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) to have been miscalculated. As such these vehicles fail to comply with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110, "Tire Selection and Rims." Risk Referencing the incorrect GVWR and CCC may allow the vehicle to be overloaded, increasing the risk of a crash. Fix Dealers will replace the label, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 19, 2025. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-264-6664. Forest River's number for this recall is 501-1994.

Two numbers, one recall

Every safety recall carries two identifiers. 501-1994 is the number East TO West assigned in its own system: it is what appears on the owner letter, on the dealer’s service screen and on the repair order. 25V714000 is the number NHTSA filed the same recall under when the manufacturer reported it, and it is the one every federal record, this site included, is keyed on.

The repair is free by federal law for vehicles up to fifteen years old. Whether one particular vehicle is included is settled by its VIN against the manufacturer’s build list, not by its model year.

Check one specific vehicle

Both lookups check a VIN against the manufacturer’s own list and say whether the repair is still outstanding on that vehicle.
